Get the Look: Equestrian Style Reigns

Mix a Mint Julep, and fan yourself under the porch as you enjoy this month’s South Paw Style: Kentucky Derby Edition. While the dust has settled on the Derby, I’m still riding high on that equestrian vibe.

For this month’s South Paw Style, I’ve paired baubles in freesia, from my Queen of Hearts collection, with leather accessories you can bet will turn heads. The authentic Venetian glass in each of these South Paw jewelry pieces seem to glow from the inside out, making me think of the many bright summer days ahead.

And while it’s not in fashion to wear a Garland of Roses on any day but the Kentucky Derby, you can certainly wear pieces from my Queen of Hearts collection anytime. Doesn’t the name make you think of Alice in Wonderland’s Queen of Hearts in her opulent red rose garden? Smashing!

Along with the jewelry, I think these H & M “Superstretch” pants are the perfect equestrian style pants for tucking into those very fine lace-up, knee-high boots. If you look closely, you’ll see these kicks have an embossed royal crest on the sides that lend a fitting elite flair. The plaid buttondown shirt from ModCloth will cover your tush in those tight pants, so no worries there, modest ladies. I’d be remiss to mention that adorable brown satchel from ModCloth that looks like leather, but is actually faux, and therefore vegan friendly. And, finally, these mod Lolita glasses from Nordstrom add a winning dash of cool to this equestrian look.
