What is Vermeil? Vermeil is a product that consists of a base of solid sterling silver, coated or plated, on all significant surfaces with a gold alloy of not less than 10 karat fineness and is at least 2.5 micrometers thick. Vermeil is a wonderful alternative to solid 14K. Still offering the warm hues of gold along with a high-quality coating.
What is gold filled? 14/20 gold-filled material is made of 14-karat gold and the gold represents 1/20th (or 5%) of the total weight of the material. Gold filled findings have an actual layer of 14K gold and is considered of greater value and quality over "Gold plated" items. "Gold Plated" items have a microscopic layer of gold that can be easily scrapped and damaged. 14/20 Yellow gold filled materials are a wonderful, cost-effective option to its sister, 14K gold. Although Gold-Filled is not new, there is renewed interest in the material due to the high cost of precious metals.
