I Love You, Red heart Venetian Glass Necklace

Red Heart Venetian Glass Necklace

The heart pendant is authentic Venetian glass (aka Murano glass). The color is a stunning red glass laced with precious metals of silver leaf banding the inside. The silver leaf lining inside gives the piece an enchanting glow. The heart pendant itself measures 25x20mm. The chain is blackened silver filled and measures 17 inches with a sterling silver toggle clasp in the front for a dash of sass. The glass pendant is crafted by hand by a master craftsman in Italy then I take the bead and transform it into wearable delights. No two are alike. Yours will be near identical to the image shown.

History of Venetian (Murano) Glass

In the year 1291, the city of Venice designated the island of Murano for production of luxury glass. The island was an ideal locale for two main reasons; first, if a fire were to break out, it would be secluded to the island only; second, the secrecy of their glass trade was able to be closely monitored. By the 14th century, Murano's glassmakers were soon the island’s most prominent citizens. Some of the perks were enjoying immunity from prosecution by the Venetian state and daughters of a glassmaker were married into some of Venice’s most affluent families. One downside of the being a Glassmaker was you were not allowed to leave the Republic and if they did, there were never allowed to return to the trade.

About Silver Filled

Silver Filled is a layer of .925 or better silver which is mechanically bonded to a white brass core. It is similar to Gold-filled. My Supplier’s Silver Filled is 1/10 or 10% by weight (.925 or better) silver. It is hundreds of times thicker than silver plating and has the same properties as Sterling Silver. The same care should be taken in preserving your silver-filled jewelry since it can tarnish just like the real deal. This is a wonderful, cost effective option to its sister, sterling silver. Although Silver-Filled is not new, there is renewed interest in the material due to the high cost of precious metals.
